Evan Wade, a graduate of the Class of 2011, recently earned his Silver Wings on January 19, 2018, at Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi.
After graduating from St. Teresa, Evan continued his education at Southern Illinois Univerity Carbondale. He graduated with honors earning a Bachelor's degree in Aviation Technology and an Associates in Aviation Flight. While in School he earned both his Private and Commercial pilot certificates, as well as his Airframe and Power Plant maintenance certificates.
Additionally, in 2016 he was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in the USAF. He worked as a flight instructor in Mattoon, IL for a few months before reporting for Active Duty in Columbus, Mississippi where he trained in the T-6 Texan II and the T-38 Talon. He earned the "Top-Gun" award in the T-6 training phase during the formation block and in the T-38 training phase during the navigation/instrument block.
Evan will continue his flight training at Columbus AFB in the T-38 while he completes "Intro to Fighter Fundamentals (IFF) - a three-month program designed to train new wingmen basic air-to-air and air-to-ground fighter tactics. From there he will continue to Holloman AFB in New Mexico where he'll train with an F-16 Fighting Falcon. There he will learn how to employ the F-16 in combat.
