| PARISH MUSIC MINISTRY PROGRAM
"Choirs must be diligently promoted," provided that "the whole body of the faithful may be able to contribute that active participation which is rightly theirs." Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy In keeping with this teaching of the Church,
St. Teresa of Avila has developed a Parish Music Ministry Program, which includes three choirs. Each choir assumes the role of assisting, encouraging, and enhancing the liturgical song of the assembly.
The Teresian Choir: rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 8 p.m. and assists at various liturgies throughout the Church Year. This will, at times, include the Saturday Vigil and each of the Sunday Liturgies. This choir will also assist at Feast Day and Sacramental Liturgies.
The Avila Choir: rehearses after the Sunday 10:30 a.m. Liturgy. This choir will assist at the 10:30 a.m. Liturgy and at various Feast Day and Sacramental Liturgies.
The Resurrection Choir: This choir assists at Funeral Liturgies.
All of the choirs will be working together at various times to enhance the beauty and solemnity of the Liturgy.
Presently, we have one instrumentalist: Alyssa Howard - piano-organ.
In Psalm 150 we read, "praise God with the blast of the trumpet, with lyre and harp, with timbrel and dance, with strings and pipe"...today, instrumental ensembles, together with the choirs, enhance the sung prayer of the assembly.
If you enjoy music - singing or playing an instrment - you will find the Parish Music Ministry Program a rewarding and pleasant experience of service to the assembly. Flexible time commitments are most acceptable.
The assembly of St. Teresa of Avila Parish extends their appreciation and gratitude to all who presently offer their time and talent as music ministers.
If you are interested in this ministry, please call the rectory for more information.
