ADMINISTRATION
Building and Grounds

Purpose: to help with general upkeep of the parish buildings and grounds, and advise or assist on small repairs and maintenance issues.

Bishop's Appeal
Purpose: to raise funds to meet parish obligations to support diocesan religious, educational, pastoral and charitable services for the diocese. Time frame, April to June.

Finance Committee
Purpose: to supervise all finances and plan methods to enhance parish revenue.

Fund Raising/Stewardship
Purpose: to seek new ways to raise funds and encourage members of the parish to embrace stewardship.

Money Counters
Purpose: to form teams to count and document the offerings at Mass.  Counting takes place after the 8:30 a.m. Mass and after the last Mass on Sunday.

CHRISTIAN SERVICE
Senior Citizens Group
Purpose:   to enhance our Senior Program by offering ideas for our day trips, offering to line up speakers, and offering to help with our senior lunches.

Food Pantry
Purpose: to serve those families who live within the boundaries of St. Teresa's parish. You may wish to donate canned goods, or make a monetary donation once a month.

"Have a Heart Tree"
Purpose: to enhance the spirit of love for one another,  volunteers receive the name and address of a former parishioner in a nursing home. In turn, the parishioner sends a valentine card to the resident.  Workshop in preparing the paper hearts for the tree held in January (date in bulletin).

Greeting Card Ministry
Purpose: to send - such as greeting cards or thinking of you cards - to one parishioner, who is presently homebound or in a nursing home.

Un-Trim-A-Tree
Purpose: to reach out to those families, parishes and organizations, in fulfilling some of their needs during the holiday season. To help prepare the tags for the tree, a workshop is held in early November (date in bulletin).

Visitation Ministry
Purpose: to visit our parishioners in the area Hospitals, Nursing Homes, and those who are homebound.
     Hospital Visitation
    
Purpose: to visit our parishioners once a week in an area hospital.
     Nursing Home Visitation - Flower Ministry
    
Purpose: to visit our former parishioners twice a year and distribute flowers.
     Homebound
    
Purpose: to visit and/or bring communion to our homebound.

FAITH FORMATION

Adult
The Marriage Prep Team
Purpose: engaged couples prepare for the Sacrament of Marriage with a couple from the team in a series of sessions covering spirituality, sexuality, and communication.

Pre-Baptism Preparation for Parents
Purpose: to assist in showing the meaning of the Sacrament of Baptism as entrance into a community of faith with all that is meant by that. We hope to develop a follow-up program as the child develops.

Elementary
Aide - Grades 1-6
Purpose: to assist catechist in providing religious education for elementary school age children.  Training is provided.

Catechist - Grades 1-6
Purpose: to provide religious education for elementary school age children on Tuesdays 3:30-4:30 p.m. (Grades K-5) and Monday evenings 6:30-7:30 p.m. (Grades 6-8).  Training is provided.

Youth Ministry
7th-8th Jr. High & 9th-10th High School
Meets 1 Sunday per month

PRAYER AND WORSHIP
Altar Servers - Grade 3 & Up
Purpose: students to assist at the altar during weekend Mass.

Altar Society
Purpose: to assume responsibility for the care of the linens, vestments, candles and holy water fonts. Members also clean certain areas of the church, especially the sanctuary.

Art and Environmental (Decorating)
Purpose: to decorate the church for various feast days from St. Teresa's Triduum to and including Holy Week.

Eucharistic Ministers
Purpose: to distribute the Eucharist under both species to the assembly during weekend and/or weekday liturgies.

Greeters - High School and Adult Families
Purpose: to extend a welcome to all who come to the House of the Lord to worship with this faith community.

Lectors
Purpose: to proclaim the Word of God and to lead the Prayers of the Faithful during weekend and/or weekday liturgies.

Music
Purpose: to help the congregation worship by leading the singing and by providing music for prayer.  Instrumentalists and vocalists needed.  Opportunities:
     Teresian Choir:  Sings at the 10:30 a.m. Mass on Sundays and rehearses on Tuesday
     evenings.

     Avila Choir:  Sings at the 8:30 a.m. Mass on
                             Sunday.

     Resurrection Choir:  Leads the singing at all
                                           funeral liturgies.

Ushers - High School and Adult
Purpose: to welcome the congregation, take up the collection, and hand out weekly bulletins and be available in case of emergency.

Prayer and Worship Committee
Purpose: to prepare liturgies that speak to and inspire the worshipping community.

Rosary Society
Purpose: to say the rosary at monthly meetings; attend wakes, funerals and have Mass offered for deceased members and attend annual investiture for new members.  Dues $3.00 yearly.

Respect Life Committee
Purpose: to work in 4 major areas: Spiritual, Educational, Caring Services, and Advocacy.  Meetings between September and June.  New members always welcome.

Children's Liturgy of the Word
Purpose: to assist as walkers, presenters etc. during the 10:30 liturgy.

ST. TERESA OF AVILA SCHOOL
After School Program
(TLC)
Purpose: to substitute with support, on occasion in our after school program from 3-5:30 p.m. daily.

Facilities Work Group
Purpose: to assist in one "fix-up" project per year in the school buildings - usually painting.

Fund Raising
Purpose: to help on one fund raiser per year (usually a dinner or breakfast).  This is to build a sense of "parish community" and to bring money into the school in order to lower parish subsidy.

Hot Lunch Program
Purpose: to assist chef in preparing and serving lunch one day per week from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Library Aide
Purpose: to assist in the library by checking out or reshelving books one morning or afternoon per week.

Substitute Teacher
Purpose: to take over a classroom in the absence of a regular teacher.  Must be a qualified teacher.

Teacher Aide
Purpose: to assist teacher, one morning a week by reading to a small group of children, working with an individual or correcting papers as needed.

Public Relations
Purpose: to contact media for special events.
